Cadwell Park – September 2012

Cadwell Park

Round 8

“Once he popped he couldn’t stop.”

Practice saw Dean fastest, Ben 4th and Nick 6th, so we looked pretty good going in to the first race:

Race 1;  Dean had a good start and was up to third when he had a total engine cut out due to an electrical fault and this, unfortunately, was to be the start of the bad luck.  Ben had a solid drive to come home in 4th and was showing real pace in the 144′s. Nick came home in 7th, which was not too bad.

Race 2;  Dean and Ben were having a good scrap at the front when the safety car was bought out and it was to be Ben who got the win over Dean, it was Benny’s first race win and there was more to come!!  Nick’s dreadful season continued with a engine failure.

Race 3;  Dean seemed to be struggling with his car all weekend and it was to be Lawrence Davey who would beat Dean to the line with Ben coming home in 6th and, guess what? Just to add to his misery Nick had a propshaft break!

Round 9

Race 1;  Well, we had our first win of the weekend from Dean and Nick did manage to finish the race, all be it in 5th place.  Benny boy would come home in 8th but I think his dad had put 3 weetabix in his breakfast bowl…….!

Race 2;  Ben showed he was on top form and played with the front gaggle, until the last 2 laps, when he made his escape and won by a commanding gap.  The rest of us were left to fight in his exhaust fumes and with Nick and Dean both having off’s they managed to finish in 6th (Dean) and 14th (Nick).

Race 3;  Dean and Nick both had off’s again and came home in 6th (Nick) and 7th (Dean).  Ben was once again having a good race and finished in 3rd.

Well it was not a good weekend for us but Ben had certainly popped and, as he said “he just can’t stop”!  So its off to Croft next where Nick has won twice, it is a fast sweeping track and as always we will endeavour to put our Cadwell experience behind us and we will be firing on all cylinders to hopefully have a strong finish to what has been a difficult season.  We are already preparing for next season when we will be trying for the top spot, as nothing else will be good enough!  The championship is pretty much over for the ensuing pack this year with Lawrence Davey so far in front, unless he is abducted by aliens, he won’t be beaten!

So its big congratulations to the Guttercrest racing team, it just goes to show a little short fat man, wearing dirty ripped jean’s, can produce a race winning car! (We love you really Nick Power)

See you at Croft   ;)
